Rep. Burgess Owens, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, used his social media platform on September 16, 2025, to address issues surrounding college costs and constituent services.
In a post made at 14:50 UTC, Owens stated: “Gaveling in today’s Higher Education & Workforce Development Subcommittee hearing to talk about one of the most important – and most confusing – financial decisions students and their families face: choosing and paying for college.”
Later that day at 15:44 UTC, he commented further on college affordability, writing: “Hidden fees and deceptive aid packages mislead students and families about the true cost of a college education – that’s wrong. It’s time to end the dishonesty and hold institutions accountable.”
Owens also informed constituents about assistance available from his office in a tweet posted at 16:03 UTC: “Need help with VA benefits, passport renewals, IRS refunds, or any federal agency? Team Owens is at Mayfield Town Hall until 11:30 am for our mobile office hours. Learn more about our constituent services or contact my office at https://t.co/REkdD4YsJa.”
Owens has served as the representative for Utah’s 4th District since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently residing in Salt Lake City, Owens holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami.
