Rep. Burgess Owens, U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, has recently posted a series of updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) account covering legislative actions, community engagement, and preparations for international events.
On December 1, 2025, Owens addressed concerns about foreign influence in American higher education. He wrote, “.@usedgov is taking action to crack down on foreign influence in our colleges and universities. And this week, @HouseGOP will pass three @EdWorkforceCmte bills to ensure our classrooms can’t be bought by foreign adversaries.
Accountability is back.”
Later that same day, Owens shared details from a visit to a local educational institution focused on supporting individuals with disabilities. In his post he stated, “Had the privilege of touring the Curtis Center for Arts and Education in Lehi with Mayor Mark Johnson. This incredible campus serves nearly 80 individuals with disabilities, helping them grow through job training, computer skills, the arts, and more. Grateful for the staff,” dated December 1, 2025.
On December 2, 2025, Owens highlighted Utah’s history as an Olympic host and discussed upcoming legislative efforts to support future host cities: “As the host of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Utah knows how to welcome the world – and we’re getting ready to do it again in 2034.
Proud to lead the Transportation Assistance for Olympic and World Cup Cities Act with @RepRickLarsen to help host cities across America plan and deliver”.
Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since defeating Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and now residing in Salt Lake City at age 71, Owens graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
