Rep. Burgess Owens, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, recently shared a series of posts on social media highlighting his views on congressional governance, innovation in Utah’s energy sector, and education reform.
On March 24, 2026, Owens criticized Democratic lawmakers in Congress by stating, “REMINDER: Democrats in Congress don’t know how to govern. All they know is how to cause pain and suffering by trying to hold onto their failed policies of protecting violent criminals at the expense of our public safety.”
Later that day, he praised technological advancements in Utah after visiting a new project by Valar Atomics at the San Rafael Energy Lab. Owens wrote on March 24, “Utah is a land of innovation and opportunity. I was very impressed to visit the new @valaratomics project on site at the San Rafael Energy Lab where their advanced micro nuclear reactor, one that was just air-lifted into the state, is being deployed to help demonstrate the”.
On March 26, Owens addressed recent legislative developments related to education policy. He stated, “With the passage of the Working Families Tax Cut Act, we helped secure some of the most consequential education reforms in modern times. With those reforms, we are putting parents back in control of their child’s education. I was grateful to visit a community co-op of K-12”.
Owens has served as Utah’s representative since defeating Ben McAdams in 2021 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and an alumnus of the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1974, Owens has emphasized both public safety concerns and support for local technological innovation during his tenure.
