Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several policy issues in a series of social media posts on September 3, 2025.

In his first post of the day, Owens stated, “Fentanyl is poisoning our communities and the Chinese Communist Party is fueling the crisis. I proudly voted YES on @RepAndyBarr’s Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act to hold China accountable, cut off the supply, and give law enforcement the tools to save lives.” (September 3, 2025).

Later that evening, Owens highlighted tax policy with a focus on American workers: “You work hard for your paycheck and you deserve to keep more of it. From waitresses to electricians, President @realDonaldTrump’s No Tax on Tips means more money in the pockets of hardworking Americans in Utah’s Fourth District and across the country.” (September 3, 2025).

Owens also commented on local housing initiatives in Utah: “Ephraim Crossing is tackling Utah’s housing challenges with innovative, commonsense solutions, giving first-time buyers and families a real shot at homeownership. Excited to see this project moving forward in partnership with @UTPortAuthority to support our workforce and local” (September 3, 2025).

Burgess Owens has served as a member of Congress since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Before entering politics, he graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree.
