U.S. Congressman Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district, addressed ongoing issues related to the government shutdown and honored veterans in a series of posts on November 4, 2025.
On November 4, Owens highlighted the impact of the shutdown on air traffic controllers, quoting the National Air Traffic Controllers Association’s appeal: “The National Air Traffic Controllers Association is calling on Democrats to pass the clean CR and end the shutdown. Air traffic controllers are working 10-hour days and 6-day weeks without pay. Senate Democrats could end this insanity TODAY.” The post underscored concerns about extended work hours and lack of pay for essential personnel.
Later that day, Owens participated in a tribute organized by the Major Brent Taylor Foundation. He wrote on November 4: “It was an honor to join the Major Brent Taylor Foundation as they carried a 400-pound U.S. flag, ‘The Major,’ up Ogden Canyon, where it now proudly flies as a tribute to America’s Veterans. Thank you to the brave men and women who have served our great nation. “
Addressing his constituents directly, Owens thanked Utahns for their engagement during a recent town hall event. On November 4 he stated: “Thank you to the thousands of Utahns who joined my latest telephone town hall to share concerns and ask questions about the government shutdown, now the longest in U.S. history. All across Utah’s Fourth District, every day gets WORSE for families, from missed paychecks and lost”
