Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 4, 2025, highlighting legislative actions and recent developments involving education policy and campus controversies.

In his first post at 15:42 UTC, Owens wrote, “From strengthening Utah’s agriculture, energy, and national security industries to protecting your hard-earned tax dollars, the Energy and Water Appropriations Act is a win for America and for our state’s farmers, ranchers, miners, manufacturers, and workers.”

Later that day at 18:39 UTC, he addressed education policy under former President Trump: “President Trump kept his promise to return education to states and local communities. He kept his promise to expand school choice and put parents back in charge. @HouseGOP is all in to make American education the best in the world.”

In a subsequent post at 19:52 UTC regarding university leadership and campus issues at Northwestern University, Owens stated: “Even as @NorthwesternU tried to stonewall @EdWorkforceCmte, we exposed how the university caved to antisemitic mobs, empowered anti-Israel activists, and failed to protect Jewish students, faculty, and staff. Michael Schill’s resignation is long overdue.”

Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently residing in Salt Lake City, Owens graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
