Rep. Burgess Owens, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, used his social media platform on September 16, 2025, to address issues related to education and constituent services.
In an early post that day, Owens wrote: “Education is the gateway to opportunity, but we’ve lost the mission. We must get back to putting students first, raising the smartest, most hopeful generation of Americans who can run circles around us.” (September 16, 2025).
Later in the day, he updated constituents about outreach efforts: “Team Owens is in Sterling for mobile office hours until 1:30 pm MT. If you need help with VA benefits, passport renewals, IRS refunds, or any federal agency, come on down or contact my casework team at https://t.co/REkdD4YsJa.” (September 16, 2025).
Owens also discussed higher education during a meeting with Weber State University leadership: “Enjoyed a great discussion with @WeberStateU President @BradLMortensen on expanding access to affordable education, supporting students and faculty, and educating the next generation of Utahns. Proud to support our state’s colleges and universities on @EdWorkforceCmte.” (September 16, 2025).
Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently residing in Salt Lake City at age 71, Owens holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami earned in 1974.
