Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress and serves as Chair of the Higher Education & Workforce Development Subcommittee, recently shared a series of posts on social media highlighting his legislative priorities and concerns about education policy.

On December 4, 2025, Owens wrote: “As Chair of the Higher Education & Workforce Development Subcommittee, it’s my priority to strengthen America’s workforce, including our pipeline of future doctors. Proud to co-sponsor @RepHarshbarger’s FAIR Act to bring transparency and fairness to the medical residency process”.

Later that day, he addressed foreign influence in American schools, stating: “The CCP has reached from college campuses into K–12 schools, pushing propaganda into our classrooms and undermining our education system from within. @HouseGOP passed the Protect Our Kids Act to confront this threat head-on and ensure our schools teach American values.”

In a subsequent post on December 4, 2025, Owens emphasized collaboration in education: “Education works when parents, teachers, and schools operate as a TEAM to put students first.”

Owens has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Ben McAdams as representative for Utah’s 4th district. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Owens is an alumnus of the University of Miami, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
