Burgess Owens, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, has been vocal about his views on education and gender equality through social media. His recent posts have sparked discussions on these critical issues.

On July 7, 2025, Owens expressed optimism regarding educational reform in the United States. He attributed this progress to the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” stating that it sets the nation on a path towards “permanent universal school choice for the first time in our nation’s history.” “This is how we make American education the best in the world.”

Later that day, Owens addressed gender competition in sports, criticizing policies that allow men to compete against women and girls. He labeled such practices as “unfair and unsafe,” urging California Democrats to adhere to legal standards and protect women or “face the consequences.” “This is insane.”

On July 8, 2025, Owens commented on media coverage of political developments, accusing media “experts” of spreading misinformation. He highlighted achievements tied to the One Big Beautiful Bill which has transformed several executive orders from former President Donald Trump into law. According to Owens, this signifies a resurgence for America under Republican leadership. “America is winning again.”

Owens was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
