Rep. Burgess Owens, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, posted a series of updates on July 31, 2025, addressing higher education policy changes, local political engagement, and energy innovation.

In a post made at 16:14 UTC, Owens commented on recent developments at Brown University: “Woke is officially DEAD at Brown.” Thanks to action from President @realDonaldTrump and @usedgov, another college is finally stepping up, ending antisemitism, enforcing Title IX, and restoring merit. A BIG win for students, parents, and higher ed. (July 31, 2025).

Later that day at 18:42 UTC, Owens highlighted his meeting with a newly elected state legislator: Grateful to spend time with new State Representative @Leah__Hansen and hear about her priorities as she begins serving in the Utah House. I’m confident she’ll be a strong voice for Saratoga Springs, Lehi, and Eagle Mountain. (July 31, 2025).

At 19:59 UTC on the same day, Owens discussed his visit to an energy facility in Delta: Enjoyed visiting the Intermountain Power Plant in Delta as they prepare to transition to natural gas and hydrogen-powered electricity. Their partnership with ACES Delta, storing hydrogen in nearby underground salt caverns, is a truly innovative step toward the future of energy. (July 31, 2025).

Owens has served as the representative for Utah’s 4th District since defeating Ben McAdams in the 2020 election cycle. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently residing in Salt Lake City at age 71, he graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
