Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on September 25, 2025, addressing issues ranging from organized retail crime to higher education reform and community engagement.
In a post at 17:44 UTC, Owens announced his support for legislation targeting retail crime: “I co-sponsored @RepDaveJoyce’s Combating Organized Retail Crime Act to strengthen coordination between federal, state, and local law enforcement to crack down on retail crime, protect America’s small businesses, and keep our communities safe.”
Later that day at 19:35 UTC, Owens commented on higher education practices: “For too long, higher education has put profits first. At @EdWorkforceCmte, we put students first, make sure they see a real return on their investment, and hold colleges accountable for deceptive pricing.”
At 21:25 UTC the same day, Owens shared details about a meeting with policy advocates in Utah: “Great to speak with state directors from @AFPhq during their visit to Utah! I’m thankful for their hard work to advance commonsense policies at every level of government and for their partnership as we fight to reignite the American Dream for families across our nation.”
Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently residing in Salt Lake City, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami.
