Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted several local initiatives and issues in a series of posts on August 15, 2025.

In his first post of the day, Owens addressed challenges facing Utah’s sheep industry. He wrote, “Great to have Julie Callahan with @USTradeRep in Utah to discuss urgent action to save our sheep industry. Foreign lamb imports are flooding the market and crushing our state’s ranchers. We’re fighting to give producers a fair shot to compete and keep rural Utah strong.” (August 15, 2025).

Later that day, Owens discussed workforce development efforts in Utah. He stated, “Enjoyed sitting down with Alex Johnson to learn how Elevate Career Services is helping Utah businesses meet workforce needs while opening doors for formerly incarcerated individuals and those with disabilities. Grateful for his work connecting Utahns with opportunity.” (August 15, 2025).

In his final post of the evening, Owens recognized recent additions at the Utah Veterans Memorial. He posted, “Grateful to all who made the new WWII and Navajo Code Talkers monuments at the Utah Veterans Memorial a reality. These heroes’ contributions are now permanently honored here at home – Utahns are invited to pay their respects at 3234 S Cultural Center Drive in West Valley.” (August 15, 2025).

Owens has served as the congressional representative for Utah’s 4th District since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently residing in Salt Lake City, he graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
