Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted recent legislative efforts and local engagements through a series of posts on December 9, 2025.

In one post, Owens discussed Utah’s preparations for hosting the 2034 Olympics and his legislative initiative to support transportation needs for major sporting events. He stated, “As Utah prepares to host the 2034 Olympics, we’re making sure our state has the tools to succeed. Proud to lead the Transportation Assistance for Olympic and World Cup Cities Act to deliver reliable transportation support for U.S. host cities.” (December 9, 2025).

Later that day, Owens reported on a meeting with representatives from Associated Food Stores about policy issues impacting local families. He wrote, “Met with representatives from Associated Food Stores this week to talk through several important issues, including PBM reform and rounding guidelines as the penny is phased out. I appreciate their engagement and the work they do for Utah families across the Fourth District!” (December 9, 2025).

Owens also referenced ongoing collaboration with Taylorsville city leadership: “Great things are happening in Taylorsville, thanks in large part to the dedicated work of Mayor Kristie Overson. I appreciated the chance to sit down with her this week to discuss the top issues facing our community and how we can continue partnering to get our priorities across” (December 9, 2025).

Owens has represented Utah’s 4th district since replacing Ben McAdams in Congress in 2021. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Owens graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
