Rep. Burgess Owens, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, addressed a range of legislative and policy issues in a series of posts on December 3, 2025.

At 14:37 UTC, Owens stated, “America’s workers and small businesses deserve transparency and accountability. I co-sponsored @RepLisaMcClain’s EBSA Investigations Transparency Act to require the @USDOL to report how long its investigations take and why, so employers, employees, and retirees aren’t left”.

Later that day at 15:13 UTC, he announced an upcoming subcommittee hearing: “Tune in as we gavel in the Higher Education & Workforce Development Subcommittee for our hearing on bias in the Truman Scholarship Program. For decades, taxpayers have funded this scholarship meant to serve ALL Americans – yet recent reports show liberal recipients outnumber”.

In another post at 16:39 UTC, Owens referenced his personal health experience while supporting new legislation: “As a cancer survivor, I know early detection is everything. Proud to co-sponsor @RepArrington’s Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act to allow Medicare to cover new multi-cancer early detection tests as soon as they’re FDA-approved.”

Owens has been active in Congress since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
