U.S. Congressman Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district, recently used his social media platform to highlight higher education leadership in Utah and advocate for business-led solutions to childcare and tax policy.

On January 14, 2026, Owens expressed appreciation for university leadership in Utah by posting: “Utah has some of the greatest universities in the world, because we have some of the best people in the world. I am grateful for the leadership my friend Pres. Astrid Tuminez offered @UVU and wish her the very best in her next chapter.”

The following day, January 15, 2026, Owens shared remarks on workforce participation and childcare innovation: “Grateful to hear from bold business owners stepping up with innovative childcare solutions in @EdWorkforceCmte. Their solutions are empowering more Americans to enter and stay in the workforce through free enterprise, not government handouts. The government cannot and should”.

Later that same day, he commented on recent legislative efforts regarding tax policy: “Common sense is back, and it’s providing big wins for Americans! I’m proud to be a part of the @HouseGOP fighting to make sure that YOU keep more of YOUR money in YOUR pockets.”

Owens has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after succeeding Ben McAdams. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Before his congressional career, Owens graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree.
