Congressman Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, participated in a House floor debate to advance eight legislative measures aimed at fulfilling Republican priorities. The bills discussed included H.J. Res. 130, H.J. Res. 131, S.J. Res. 80, H. Con. Res. 58, H.R. 1949, H.R. 3109, H.R. 5107, and H.R. 5214.
Owens addressed the House on the importance of returning to established legislative procedures and advancing policies aligned with what he described as the “America First” agenda.
“Mr. Speaker, after blatant obstruction and prolonged delay on the part of congressional Democrats for over 40 days, the House has returned to Regular Order. It’s good to be back, and it’s about time.
“Today, we’re here to advance eight separate measures that meet the demands of the American people and strengthen President Trump’s successful America First agenda. My constituents voted for relief from the Biden bureaucratic barrage and for the safety and stability of their communities.
“From bolstering American energy dominance to upholding law and order, strengthening the criminal justice system in our nation’s capital, and rejecting the failed ideology of socialism, House Republicans continue to deliver measurable, substantive progress,” Owens said during his remarks.
Burgess Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since replacing Ben McAdams in Congress in 2021 (https://www.congress.gov/member/burgess-owens/O000173). He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and now lives in Salt Lake City. Owens graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
