Rep. Burgess Owens, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, addressed issues ranging from education spending to legislative developments and natural resources in a series of posts on September 23, 2025.
In his first post, Owens criticized the allocation of educational funds, stating on September 23, “This is insane. Every dollar should go toward educating kids – not DEI agendas and woke hiring quotas. Thank you @EDSecMcMahon and @usedgov for following the money and exposing this student-last waste of taxpayer dollars.”
Later that day, he expressed support for recent legislative efforts affecting direct sellers and real estate agents. On September 23, Owens posted: “The Direct Seller and Real Estate Agent Harmonization Act protects the flexibility that direct sellers and real estate agents value and helps these industries continue to thrive in Utah and across America. @RepKiley’s commonsense bill passed @EdWorkforceCmte last week, and I’m”
Owens also highlighted Utah’s role in agriculture through its natural resources. In another post from September 23, he stated: “Utah is blessed with incredible natural resources. We visited the Intrepid Potash Mine near Moab, where potash is produced for use as fertilizer on farms across America, fueling our agriculture industry and strengthening our nation’s food supply.”
Burgess Owens succeeded Ben McAdams in Congress in 2021. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Owens holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami (1974).
