Rep. Burgess Owens, U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th District since 2021, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing issues ranging from constituent engagement to education and antisemitism in schools.
On September 9, 2025, Owens welcomed visitors from his district to the U.S. Capitol, stating: “It was my pleasure to welcome a wonderful family from Utah’s Fourth District to the People’s House! If you’re planning a trip to Washington, D.C., make sure to visit https://t.co/REkdD4YsJa to schedule a tour of the U.S. Capitol.”
Later that day, he commented on student performance in American schools with the message: “When America’s students can’t meet basic proficiency standards, you know the status quo has failed. Fixing this crisis starts with returning education to the states.”
The following day, September 10, Owens addressed concerns about antisemitism in educational settings: “Antisemitism is spreading in America’s K–12 schools, making Jewish students feel unsafe and teaching kids to judge each other by race, creed, color, or culture. @EdWorkforceCmte is fighting to make sure classrooms are for learning, not activism.”
Owens succeeded Ben McAdams as representative of Utah’s 4th District and has resided in Salt Lake City after being born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
