Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from higher education accreditation to foreign investment in Utah land and an upcoming congressional testimony.

On July 15, Owens posted, “Accreditation has become the gateway for radical ideology in higher education. My Accreditation for College Excellence Act ends political litmus tests, restores merit and common sense, and ensures colleges prepare students for their future careers.”

The following day, he encouraged followers to watch a congressional hearing: “TUNE IN: @USDOT @SecDuffy testifies before @TransportGOP” (July 16).

Later on July 16, Owens commented on foreign ownership of land in Utah, stating: “The CCP is not our friend and Utah is NOT for sale. Proud to see Utah leading the charge to protect our land, our resources, and our families from foreign adversaries.”

Owens has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after replacing Ben McAdams. He was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Owens holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami (1974).
