Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media on February 25, 2026, addressing border security and legislative action during the State of the Union.

In his first post, Owens criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of the southern border and praised a previous administration: “We cannot forget the absolute CRISIS that Joe Biden allowed to happen at the Southern Border. Thank goodness for a President who kept his promises and shut the border down! #SOTU2026” (February 25, 2026).

Shortly after, Owens called on Senate Republicans to advance specific legislation: “.@SenateGOP, you heard it from @POTUS. Bring the SAVE America Act to the floor and vote on it! #SOTU2026” (February 25, 2026).

He concluded with a quote attributed to former President Donald Trump regarding government priorities: “A picture is worth a thousand words. ‘If you agree with this statement then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American Government is to protect American citizens and not illegal aliens.’ – @realDonaldTrump #SOTU2026” (February 25, 2026).

Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951, he currently resides in Salt Lake City. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami in 1974.
