Rep. Burgess Owens, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah’s 4th district since 2021, has recently used his social media platform to criticize Democratic leadership in Washington and highlight local educational initiatives.

On March 20, 2026, Owens posted: “A reminder: Democrats in Washington only know how to govern through pain. ICE is funded through 2029. The madness you see at the airports, the missed paychecks, the lack of funds for FEMA, Secret Service, Coast Guard, and CISA. All that pain is here for optics. Shame on them.”

Three days later, on March 23, 2026, he followed up with another post stating: “Democrats would rather fight tooth and nail for illegal immigrants and force the TSA, Coast Guard, CISA, and FEMA to work without pay, than fight for the American Citizens they are SUPPOSED TO represent. Shame on them. Fund @DHSgov.”

Also on March 23, Owens commented on technical education in Utah: “Education should lead to opportunity, that is something that @tooeletech understands. I was very impressed with the breadth of technical education and training options they offer that serve students from all walks of life.”

Owens was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Miami in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
