Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed ongoing government funding issues and constituent services through a series of posts on October 1, 2025.

In a post published at 00:09 UTC, Owens stated, “Chuck Schumer and the Democrats would rather pick a fight with President Trump than keep the government open.”

Later that day at 15:53 UTC, he informed constituents about office operations amid potential disruptions: “My offices in Washington and West Jordan remain open, and our casework team will continue providing full constituent services. If you live in Utah’s Fourth District and need help with a federal agency, visit https://t.co/Niyi7dlHD0 or call us at (801) 999-9801.”

That evening at 23:32 UTC, Owens commented on legislative actions related to government funding: “During the Biden administration, Democrats voted for a short-term CR 13 times.

Now, with President Trump in office, those same Democrats refuse to support the exact same measure – choosing to shut down the government instead.”

Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since replacing Ben McAdams in 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951 and currently residing in Salt Lake City, Owens graduated from the University of Miami in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
