Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on social media between October 31 and November 3, 2025, addressing the impact of an ongoing government shutdown and highlighting local initiatives in his district.
On October 31, Owens wrote about community efforts to address food insecurity amid the shutdown: “Team Owens joined Saint Andrew Food Pantry to help provide food and essentials to nearly 200 families across Utah’s Fourth District. As the Democrat-led shutdown inflicts pain on 86,000 Utah households who rely on SNAP, we’re grateful for the community organizations stepping up https://t.co/hz2KC87PtL”.
Later that day, he provided further details regarding the effects of the shutdown: “It’s Day 31 of the Democrat Shutdown. SNAP benefits are running out for 86,000 Utah households, more than 2 million workers are missing paychecks, and our economy is losing $137 million every week. All this pain because Senate Democrats refuse to support a clean CR to reopen”.
On November 3, Owens highlighted economic developments in Utah: “Utah is a growing hub for manufacturing, transportation, and logistics. After meeting with Johnny Ferry and Josh Brown from the Utah Manufacturers Association, I’m even more energized about our state’s manufacturing strength and the opportunities ahead for Utah workers and https://t.co/Q5R9F6Ozr8”.
