Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted recent developments and community engagements in a series of posts on social media in August 2025.
On August 18, Owens promoted education policy initiatives, stating, “Students are thriving thanks to school choice. The One Big Beautiful Bill is a historic step to make sure every child in America has access to the education that best fits their unique needs – because parents deserve options and students deserve opportunity.”
The following day, Owens shared his appreciation for local officials after an encounter at a Gunnison convenience store. On August 19 he wrote, “Great running into Curt Ludvigson and Cody Harmer from the Sanpete County Planning Commission at the Maverik in Gunnison. Grateful for the important work they and their colleagues do for the community!”
Later that same day, Owens reported on his visit to a major regional industry site: “Visited the Redmond Salt Mine in Sanpete County, one of the top salt producers in the West. Nearly 80% of the salt used on Utah’s winter roads comes from this mine, a major economic driver for Sanpete and Sevier Counties with decades of production ahead.”
Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since 2021 after succeeding Ben McAdams as its congressional representative. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Owens earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami in 1974.
