Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted his engagement with Utah students and educational initiatives through a series of posts on social media.

On November 17, 2025, Owens wrote about his annual role in nominating Utah students to military service academies: “Each year, it’s one of my greatest honors to nominate Utahns to our nation’s military service academies. These students represent the very best of our state, and I’m incredibly proud of their commitment to service and hard work.”

Later that day, he expressed appreciation for local Turning Point USA chapters at two high schools: “I’m inspired by the @TPUSA chapters at Lone Peak and Cedar Valley High School and was glad to spend time with students last week in Utah. These young Americans love our country and are already making a big impact in their communities. Thanks for having me!” (November 17, 2025).

On November 18, 2025, Owens shared details about his participation in a congressional hearing focused on higher education: “We’re back at @EdWorkforceCmte today for a hearing on innovation in higher education. As costs soar and workforce demands change, America’s students deserve pathways that prepare them for real careers. Tune in at 10:15 am ET.”

Owens has served as the representative for Utah’s 4th District since 2021 after succeeding Ben McAdams. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1951 and currently resides in Salt Lake City. Owens is an alumnus of the University of Miami where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
