Rep. Burgess Owens, who represents Utah’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted his engagements with local organizations and praised Utah’s role in national security through a series of posts on social media.

On August 19, 2025, Owens expressed appreciation for the state’s firefighters, stating: “Grateful to the @FireAuthority team for taking the time to brief me on their work and the challenges they face serving Utahns. We owe our firefighters a tremendous debt of gratitude for their courage and sacrifice.”

Later that day, he shared his experience at a community event: “Had a great time at Central Boxing’s Back to School Night! Enjoyed meeting so many incredible Utahns and sharing a message about pushing through challenges and overcoming obstacles to reach your winning season.”

On August 20, Owens turned attention to Utah’s contributions to national defense technology. He wrote: “Utah plays a vital role in America’s national defense. BioFire Defense in Murray is on the cutting edge, providing tools to quickly identify viruses and bacteria used in bioweapons or natural outbreaks, helping treat illness, guide community response and keep America safe.”

Owens has represented Utah’s 4th District since 2021 after replacing Ben McAdams. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1951, Owens is now based in Salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974.
