Every day, Riverton City Animal Control encounters dogs, cats and other animals that have escaped or been abandoned. To keep these animals safe and taken care of, they are transported to Stone Ridge Veterinary Clinic, at 1381 Stone Ridge Lane in Riverton. While they wait to be reunited with their families, a contract between Riverton City and Stone Ridge allows the animals to be housed and well cared for.

We strongly encourage owners of lost pets in and around Riverton to contact Riverton City Animal Control to see if their pet has been located and impounded at Stone Ridge. You can do so by calling 801-208-3168 or by visiting the Impounded Animals webpage at rivertonutah.gov/impoundedanimals.

If after five days the animals being held at Stone Ridge have gone unclaimed, they are listed as being available for adoption. The list of animals available for adoption is updated on a frequent basis to display the most accurate and up-to-date information possible. These animals can be viewed online at rivertonutah.gov/adopt-a-pet.

It can feel risky to adopt a pet without ever meeting them in person, so feel free to schedule a meet and greet! Animal visitations are held by appointment Tuesday-Thursday between 1 and 3 p.m. You can schedule an appointment to meet your furry friend by dialing 801-208-3168.

All other information regarding lost, impounded or adoptable pets can be found at rivertonutah.gov/animalcontrol.
