On January 23, 2025, Rep. Burgess Owens expressed strong support for former President Donald Trump by stating that "President Trump accomplished more for the American people in his first 24 hours than his predecessor did in four years."

Later that day, Owens tweeted about Utah's historical connection to the railroad industry. He emphasized ongoing efforts to improve rail infrastructure: "Utah’s proud railroad legacy runs deep—from the Golden Spike in 1869 to leading the way in modern freight logistics. Today, we're looking at innovative ways to fast-track rail infrastructure upgrades while maintaining and building upon workforce excellence."

In another tweet posted on January 23, 2025, Owens shared personal reflections on racial discrimination and criticized current diversity initiatives. He stated: "I grew up in the segregated South, and I've seen the evil that is racial discrimination. That's why I've been so disgusted by the Biden administration's DEI push. The good news: as of yesterday, President Trump removed DEI from every government department. Merit is back!"
