Burgess Owens, a U.S. Congressman representing Utah's 4th district since 2021, has been vocal on various policy issues through his social media platform. In recent tweets, he has addressed concerns ranging from international relations to domestic education and transportation policies.
On March 25, 2025, Owens criticized universities that choose to boycott Israel and divest from U.S. energy while maintaining ties with countries like China, Russia, and Iran. He referenced the DETERRENT Act by Rep. Baumgartner, which includes his own RIFA Act, stating: "Universities that boycott Israel and divest from U.S. energy have no issue cozying up to China, Russia, and Iran... We will not let our values be sold to the highest bidder."
On March 26, 2025, Owens expressed his dissatisfaction with current education policies and their impact on test scores. He highlighted President Trump's commitment to reforming the system: "Terrible education policy = terrible test scores... This administration is not business as usual, and President Trump is determined to deliver generational change to the system and deliver for America’s children."
Later that day, Owens addressed issues within the trucking industry, noting a high turnover rate attributed to regulatory challenges in Washington D.C.: "A 90% turnover in long-haul trucking tells us the DC regulatory framework is doing more harm than good... Today, @TransportGOP tackled parking, but there is so much more we have to do to ensure trucking stays a reliable path to the American Dream."
